Bob Dylan at 70
Today, 24 May, Happy Birthday, Mr Dylan is 70.  My last brief entry applies here straightforwardly.  Listening to a programme about Dylan's women last night, it struck me on the  collaboration between visual art and music that can sometimes exist. With Dylan, why his genius (and it's not a word to be used lightly) is so apparent is that he is ruthlessly sincere.  This can, in my view, supersede any other shortfall provided its linked to sincere originality of thought and dedicated purpose.  He thus made a virtue out of a strange non-musical voice, he is an average musician, but to make a positive virtue out of any shortcoming with such unique vision will live for ever - truly therefore classical.  Well, those are my thoughts.
